We tried this restaurant on the very first day when arrived in Luxembourg City. We landed on a Sunday and much to our surprise (read - shock for me) we could not find any shops open here. We came from a place where Sunday is the busiest day in markets and the streets are full of life and everybody is out partying. But when we came here, everything was plain, no sound of parties or people on the streets. Then our driver, the one who dropped us to our temporary apartment from the airport, informed us that life is chill here on a Sunday, people just relax, nobody is working and that we would only find a few restaurants open. On usual days as well, places, including supermarkets are shut by 6 pm, only a few are open till 8 and nothing is open on a Sunday. Yeah, I had read about that in blogs and the usual reviews about the country, seemed it was true! So yeah, I was kind of prepared for that.
So we reach our apartment and find an Indian guy there, luckily who helped us settle down and then asked us for a dinner, sure we couldn't refuse because we were super hungry. He suggested an Indian restaurant close by, and it is named, Taj Mahal.
Okay, so doesn't look like Taj Mahal, of course, and it's not even comparable to The Taj hotels in India, but the name was suggestive of the fact that they serve Indian food here.
So we went there at 8 and we were greeted warmly by the staff there. The food was amazing and we were able to cope with our few hours of homesickness!
They served pretty big naans (a type of Indian bread) and very delicious Chicken curry. The quantities were more than enough for two people. I'm skipping our new Indian vegetarian friend out of the chicken!
So yes, all in all a very good Indian restaurant near Gare station which serves pretty amazing and yummy food and you won't regret going there.
My rating - 3.5/5
Because the quantities of pakoras ordered were not worthy of the price charged for and plus the ambience. But yes, warm staff and good food!
Cheers! :)
